No... I get why you consider him a great hero....

I am not sure why I do.

Everybody* loves Atticus.

Is it because he reminds everybody of dad (or of what they wanted their dad to be) ?

I didn't say it clearly enough in my post, but to me Atticus is a great hero not because of his job but because he is a wonderful role model for dads.

I agree, Potter's circle is great fun to be part of. No wonder.

I think people are misunderstanding. The iPods are not per post, but per blog, and occasionally. I don't even give away iPod covers for first comments per post.

Ah, what a wonderful scene!

I am not sure why Atticus is one of my favourite characters.......... He is just a regular guy doing his job.

Most other heroes are either 'special' (Think Indie or Terminator) or they are flawed people who rise to the occasion when confronted with extraordinary circumstances (Think Bogie in Casablanca or Oskar Schindler)

Some people might say that Atticus falls in the second category, but I don't quite agree.

Yes, the situation he faces is not normal but he is still just doing his job .... He is not standing upto the 'system'. He is not trying to overthrow institutionalized racism....... He is simply a decent guy who believes that the people around him can be reached (wrongly as it turns out) .....

It is amazing how indisputably heroic he is despite all this.
